We acknowledge and recognise their connections to this land, waters, and community. We pay our respect to their Elders past, present, and emerging, and extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples today.

The Chinese Catholic Community Brisbane, in response to the first action item proposed in the 2024 Synod Action Plan, has resolved that the Church must form new relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. This begins with a renewed way of listening and with the belief that all of us can and must learn from the First Peoples of this land. Starting from 1 January 2026, before the first Sunday Mass in each month, we will acknowledge the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the Traditional Custodians of this land. In addition, before every Sunday Mass, we will express our respect for the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples through a displayed on the projector.
